It's Monday - What are You Reading?

Monday comes around fast.  It has been an extremely busy week, so I only found time to complete one book.  As usual I am joining in the blog hop over at Mentor Texts.

Hop on over and join in at the Mentor Text Blog.

The book I read was called Our Only May Amelia by Jennifer Holm.  It took me a little while to get into it and orientate myself.  Eventually I sorted out her many brothers and began to follow more easily.

It gave a wonderful historical perspective of a young girl growing up in Nth Western America in the early twentieth century.  By mid-way through the book I was hooked and wanted to finish the remainder of it in one sitting.

I am looking forward to reading the sequel.

This week I am reading Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursu.  Just started.  I hope I like it, however I was never a fan of the Snow Queen so I am a little anxious about that.

  1. I'm glad you liked May Amelia. I love the character, & I liked the sequel too. Be sure to try it. And I loved Breadcrumbs & reviewed it a few months ago, thought it was an exceptionally clever realistic fiction book that used fantasy to make its point. I'll be interested to see what you think. Thanks for the post!

Thanks for the Breadcrumbs encouragement, I will restart it with new energy now.

    1. I know that every book isn't for everyone. Please don't feel any pressure. I am a diehard fantasy fan & that also informs my opinion. There are too many great books out there! Happy reading!

  3. I wasn't sure I would like Breadcrumbs (I don't like fantasy that much), but I loved it. It was magically written and a magical story! :)

  4. I really liked Breadcrumbs but I wish I had had more background with the Snow Queen because I seriously had none and I felt like some of Breadcrumbs didn't flow and I think because it somehow related to Snow Queen...I'm not sure though because I still haven't read it. I liked the fantasy elements a lot.

  5. I am a bit hazy on the snow queen, just remember reading as achild and not liking it. It may be I need to reread that to get the full value of Breadcrumbs.
