Redesigning the Layout of my Classroom.

It is going to be a larger task than I thought.  Before I get to the fun part I am going to need to do a major clean out.  There are things that need to be thrown to the recycling or at least placed somewhere else, so that I can make room for new needs.

I had thought we had some tote tray storage but someone else is happily using them, so I am going to need to clear shelves so that students can keep their things there.  In fact I don’t want anyone to have the tote tray in a desk. It might make them think it is “their” desk.

So tomorrow the big throw out begins!

  1. Enjoyed reading your post -- also in the middle of downsizing and "re-purposing".... it often seems that for everything I *can* get rid of because someone in the Central Office made it required equipment (the 15-year old TV on a 2x3 foot cart and the overhead projector come to mind).

Will be watching for updates on your project! Thanks for sharing....

  2. I'm in the process of doing the same thing, although i find my classroom isn't quite big enough to really create the student centered classroom i want. Best of luck!

Thanks for dropping by. Yes we collect so much stuff and mainly I am responsible! I think very few of us get the size and planned classroom we dream of, however I guess we work to make it as close to our satisfaction as possible!

  4. Thanks for the window into your classroom. I wonder if I might try my apartment dweller's creed of one in one out when I get established in a classroom... I live in hope.

I wish I could follow that creed in my house. I really need to do it! I need to do some throwing out from my teaching materials too, that will be another months work!
